Eco-Labeling in Costa Rica: Who Can Certify Your Products?

Those interested in obtaining the Costa Rican Environmental Label or the Seal of the Environmental Alliance of the Americas, now have certification options available!

Thanks to the contest on “Promoting Environmental Labeling in Costa Rica,” courtesy of the EcoAdvance project, three Product Certification Bodies (OCPs, from the acronym in Spanish) have received support to obtain accreditation. This means they are now authorized to certify products available on the market, in accordance with the standards set by the National Environmental Labeling Program from the Ministry of the Environment and Energy (MINAE).

This program outlines, via its technical standards, a list of criteria that must be evaluated to demonstrate that a product or service creates a lower or lesser environmental impact.
