CCR project partners sign cooperation agreement between Dominican Republic and Cuba

ENDA Dominicana and Bioeco signed an agreement on scientific, technical, and community cooperation for sustainable development.

To support progress in sustainable development, environmental protection, applied research, and community empowerment in the Caribbean, the institutions Enda Dominicana and Centro Oriental de Ecosistemas y Biodiversidad (Bioeco) signed an agreement on scientific, technical, and community cooperation for sustainable development.

Following the symbolic act between Lic. Rosa María Brooks Laverdeza, Director General of Bioeco, and M.Ed. Antonio Adrés Rodríguez Fernández, Executive Director of Enda Dominicana, the parties agreed to establish a strategic partnership for cooperation in areas related to environmental management, climate change adaptation, and sustainable human development, based on mutual benefit, equity, and respect for each country’s sovereignty.

This collaboration will prioritize academic, research, technical, and community-based activities, as well as education, development, training, and knowledge advancement in the following areas:  

  • Biodiversity conservation and sustainable use
  • Climate change adaptation and risk management
  • Community development and participatory land management
  • Environmental education and communication for development
  • Agroecology and sustainable production systems
  • Integrated water resources management
  • Restoration of degraded ecosystems 

This agreement paves the way for new collaborations between Enda Dominicana and Bioeco, an aspiration shared by both institutions that will undoubtedly contribute to strengthening the study and conservation of biodiversity in the Caribbean.
