The Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF) was honored to take part in the technical panel “Evidence-Based EbA: Demonstrating Impact and Scaling Solutions” during the 2025 Knowledge Day organized by the Friends of EbA (FEBA) in Bonn, Germany.

This timely event gathered global leaders and innovators to:

  • Catalyze action on Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) in the face of mounting climate challenges and evolving political and financial contexts, particularly in the lead-up to UNFCCC COP30.
  • Foster collaboration and knowledge exchange across sectors, engaging policymakers, practitioners, researchers, funders, and community representatives.

Representing the CBF, Ulrike Krauss, Manager of the Climate Change Program and EbA Facility, shared innovative experiences from coral restoration efforts in the Caribbean. Dr. Krauss highlighted key success factors that consistently underpin high-impact EbA initiatives, including:

  • Context sensitive and adaptive approaches
  • Meaningful community engagement—from planning to post-project sustainability
  • Strong inter-institutional and cross-sectoral collaboration
  • Bottom-up management that scales from local practices to national policy

These elements form the foundation for resilient local institutions, empowered communities, and lasting regional networks.

The CBF EbA Facility is implemented under the International Climate Initiative (IKI), with funding from the German Government through KfW.
